After pretreatment, acetylation, hydrolysis, precipitation, washing, extrusion and drying, the cellulose is modified to become a spinnable cellulose diacetate tablet soluble in acetone and other organic solvents.

Cellulose diacetate is a white, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic granular, powdered or fibrous solid. The melt has good fluidity, is easy to form and process, and the molded products have the advantages of toughness, transparency and good luster. The properties of molded products are: tensile strength 13~61MPa; Impact strength (cantilever beam method) 21.4 ~ 287J/m2; Thermal deformation temperature (under 453 kPa stress) 43~98 ℃; Volume resistivity l013 Q - cm. Self-extinguishing plastics can be prepared by adding flame retardant. Triacetate fiber is stronger and stronger than diacetate fiber, with nearly twice the tensile strength, high compression strength and high heat resistance, so it is suitable for manufacturing photographic substrates such as film. Cellulose diacetate is soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid and acetone, while cellulose triacetate is insoluble in dichloromethane and chloroform, but cellulose diacetate is insoluble in dichloromethane and chloroform.
